the Drink Detective. It is a small, discreet, credit card sized test that, using patented science, can quickly and easily determine whether a drink has been contaminated with drugs. The Drink Detective test detects the presence of the three most commonly used drugs in drink spiking:

  • Ketamine – also know as Special K, K, Ket
  • Rohypnol & other Benzodiazepines – including diazepam such as Vallium
  • GHB – gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid

Each Drink Detective pack contains three complete test cards that have two test squares: the K+ and benzodiazepines test square, and the GHB test square. The test squares change colour when the swab provided is dipped into the drink and placed on to the test square, if one of the illicit drugs is present. Test results are instant. The K+ test (Ketamine and amine detection) that is part of the Drink Detective can also detect drugs such as amphetamine (speed), MDMA (ecstasy), cocaine and other illicit drugs that are sometimes added to drinks, because all of these drugs contain amines. Chemical amines trigger psychoactive change in the brain. Most non-psychoactive drugs and household products do not contain amines.

Drink Spiking.

The spiking of drinks is carried out in order to incapacitate a person for the purpose of sexual assault, robbery and other crimes. It is a global issue that is on the rise. The Drink Detective is currently the only reliable testing product available to consumers that can detect all categories of illicit drugs that are used for drink spiking.

Drink spiking is a premeditated act, a personal violation and a criminal offence.
